My new probiotic of choice is Visbiome instead of VSL #3.
Many of you are taking the probiotic VSL #3 based on my recommendation. The original VSL #3 formula has changed and is now no longer as effective. The original VSL #3 formula is now available in a probiotic called Visbiome. You can order Visbiome online here, or ask your pharmacist to order it for you. There is a long backstory regarding the change, and most pharmacies are no longer carrying VSL #3.
I recommend strong probiotics like this for anyone who has Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or any gastrointestinal disorder that is making them uncomfortable. If you are taking an antibiotic, it is a good idea to take a probiotic (although not at the same time of day) to replace beneficial bacteria in the colon.
Visbiome’s strains and amounts of microbes have been tested in controlled clinical trials and proven effective.
The dose that is working for you now with VSL #3 is the dose you should continue taking with Visbiome. Most people find relief taking 1-2 capsules per day. If you have any questions about your probiotics or anything else nutrition-related, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and ask.
