This year I’ve seen clients make some incredible progress in a very short time.
- Daily joint pain gone in just a week.
- Triglyceride levels cut in half in just one month.
- Blood sugar down by 20 points in just a few weeks.
- Years of digestive trouble eliminated.
What do all of these people have in common? What enabled them to make this much progress so quickly? I’ve been thinking about it, and the one thing they all have in common is the attitude and energy they brought to the table.
In a word, they went into this work with joy.
Not grim determination, or strict discipline, or deprivation. Not “I’m finally getting myself together” or any other negative self-talk.
Instead, the people who made the most progress focused on what they enjoy in their life and how they can increase their enjoyment by being healthier. They want to have more of what they truly love and see good, healthy, clean food as a way to get it.
We found healthy foods that they enjoy, and built on that foundation. Its easy to avoid the foods that are holding you back when you are focused on what you really, really, really want. Adding all those “reallys” in gets us to our deepest desire. Our deepest desire is rarely a super-sized soda or bacon-wrapped, deep-fried candy bar.
Focusing on how good they felt made it easy to stick with their new plan. Who wants to feel bad?
If the words healthy and joy don’t seem to go together for you, that may be what’s holding you back. Finding your joy is what will propel you forward, quicker than you ever imagined.
